Pharmacotherapeutic group. Antiseptic and disinfectants.
Indication.
Use for rinsing the mouth and throat, with purulent wounds, bedsores, ulcerative lesions, burns of II and III degrees, osteomyelitis, empyema of the pleura, chronic purulent otitis, anaerobic infections.
Contraindication.
Hypersensitivity to the drug and other nitrofuran derivatives, allergic dermatoses.
Method of application and dosage.
The medicinal product “Furacilin-Ternofarm” is used externally, in the form of an aqueous 0.02% (1:5000) solution. To prepare an aqueous solution, dissolve the contents of 1 sachet (0.94 g of powder) in 100 ml of isotonic sodium chloride solution or distilled water (use hot water for quick dissolution). After that, cool the solution to room temperature.
Mouth and throat rinse: dissolve 1 sachet (0.94 g of powder) in 100 ml of hot water.
Repeat rinsing according to the doctor’s recommendations. The course of treatment depends on the form and severity of the disease, the nature of concomitant therapy, the achieved treatment effect and is determined by the doctor individually.
In case of purulent wounds, bedsores, ulcerative lesions, II and III degree burns, to prepare the granulating surface for skin grafting and for the secondary suture, irrigate the wound with an aqueous solution of the drug “Furacilin-Ternofarm” and apply wet bandages.
After surgery for osteomyelitis, wash the cavity with an aqueous solution of the drug “Furacilin-Ternofarm”, then apply a wet bandage.
In the case of empyema of the pleura, pus should be sucked out, the pleural cavity should be washed by the generally accepted method. Then enter 20‒100 ml of an aqueous solution of the medicinal product into the pleural cavity.
In case of anaerobic infection, after standard surgical intervention, the wound should also be treated with the medicine “Furacilin-Ternofarm”.
In case of chronic purulent otitis, apply 8‒10 drops of an aqueous solution of the drug “Furacilin-Ternofarm” to a cotton swab or turunda and insert into the external auditory canal 2 times a day. The solution should be preheated to body temperature.
Children. There is no experience of using the drug in children, so it should not be used in this category of patients.
Overdose.
When using large doses of the drug, side effects may increase.
