Drying is a traditional way to preserve dates. Dates are delicious on their own, but they can also be used in baking or desserts. They are a type of fruit with a distinctly sweet taste.
Use:
sweets – mix the dates blended into a paste with crushed nuts, grated coconut and perhaps a little cocoa, roll the resulting mixture into balls
Dates can also be added to sweet porridges or couscous for a sweet treat
Marmalade – soak 250 g of dates in 200 ml of hot water, let stand for 2 hours, then blend everything until smooth and you have a quickly prepared and exotic marmalade
Sweet pastries – you can add roughly chopped dates to the dough before baking to add a special touch to a classic banana bread recipe or any other sweet pastry
raw cakes – blended dates are often used as bases for unbaked cakes due to their sticky and stiff consistency
